[Author’s note: “Senior Spotlight” is a miniseries offering a quick look at some of Oregon’s Class of 2022 dance standouts. Today, we are getting to know Canby dancer Elizabeth Dula. Dula is a Cougar Dancer team captain. We provided Dula with a series of questions to answer. Her responses are below!]
OSAAtoday: Why did you decided to join your high school dance team?
Elizabeth Dula: My freshman year I decided to join dance team because it seemed like the next step. I had danced at a studio in Canby for 10 years and I felt like I was ready to go to a next level of dance.
OSAAtoday: What part of the dance team season is your favorite and why?
Dula: My favorite part of dance team is probably state season. Although it can be stressful, it’s all worth the time and effort we put in as a team in the end.
OSAAtoday: What style of dance do you most enjoy performing?
Dula: My favorite style of dance to perform is Contemporary and Modern. With both of these styles I feel like I’m really telling a story with my movements. I can let go of everything and just perform.
OSAAtoday: What’s next for you after graduation? Will you pursue dance after high school?
Dula: I’m not completely sure what I will be doing involving dance after high school, but I know for sure I want to keep doing something. I will definitely take classes offered at the college I’m planning to attend but we will have to see what else is in store for me involving dance!
